Eek - there’s less than a month to go to Christmas so how can you lose weight fast and fit into your LBD for those looming Christmas parties?
Don’t panic, you can by following our quick weight loss tips from top nutritionist Shirley Ward. Shirley explains that 'sticking to the following tried and tested weight loss rules is a great start to controlling appetite and reducing those frustrating cravings for weight gain foods'.



LBD Rule 1: Suppress your appetite to control those cravings


Cravings occur when energy levels drop. Avoid this happening by choosing LBD healthy foods to lose weight, which help suppress appetite and keep you fuller for longer.
Choose LBD healthy foods: oats (oat cakes, oat-based snack bars), brown rice, sweet potato, unsalted nuts and seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, sesame), vegetables and fruit, wholemeal bread and pasta
Avoid non-LBD-friendly foods which produce cravings and don’t suppress appetite, such as sugar, white bread, white pasta, white rice, pastries, potatoes, crisps, cakes, biscuits, sweets, fizzy drinks




LBD Rule 2: Choose fat for weight loss!

Ensure each meal contains 'essential' fats, which can actually aid weight loss. These fats help you turn more food into energy rather than fat, plus they also help reduce levels of saturated fats.
Choose LBD-friendly foods such as salmon and mackerel, avocados, unsalted nuts and seeds, olive oil, flax and hemp oil
Avoid non-LBD-friendly foods, which are high in saturated fats: red meat, full-fat dairy







LBD Rule 3: Don’t forget the protein!

Balancing meals with protein helps keep you fuller for longer by acting as a hunger suppressant, so you’re less likely to crave those 'bad' foods.
Choose: chicken, turkey, eggs, fish, hummus, beans and lentils









LBD Rule 4: Eat regularly to aid weight loss

Eating every 2-3 hours actually helps suppress appetite, by keeping energy levels balanced. Skipping meals like breakfast encourages weight gain, as you’ll store more food as fat when you do eat. Aim for three meals a day plus a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack, which contain foods from rules 1-3
.

Water is an effective appetite suppressant, by keeping you fuller for longer and helps your body use food more efficiently. An apple/pear with a small handful of un-salted sunflower seeds
